History
The exact origin of the Podengo Portugu is not fully known, but it is one of the oldest dog breeds in Portugal and is believed to have descended from the ancient hunting dogs of the Iberian Peninsula. These robust and agile dogs were originally used to hunt small mammals such as rabbits and are known to have both good senses of sight and smell.
