Wer einen unermüdlichen Arbeiter sucht, der auch vor dornigem Gebüsch und unwegsamem Gelände nicht zurückschreckt, wird hier fündig. Seine Nase ist phänomenal und er jagt mit einer unglaublichen Passion und Ausdauer.
Allerdings ist diese Rasse definitiv nichts für Anfänger. Er bringt einen enormen Eigensinn und eine große Selbstständigkeit mit. Die Ausbildung erfordert extrem viel Geduld und eine sehr konsequente Hand, da er gerne eigene Entscheidungen trifft. Wenn man diese Herausforderung aber meistert, hat man einen fantastischen, robusten Jagdbegleiter.

Ein Freilauf ist bei uns im Wald derzeit unmöglich, weshalb wir intensiv am Rückruf arbeiten und sie stattdessen mit Suchspielen und langen Wanderungen auslasten müssen. Man muss sich im Klaren sein, dass dieser Hund täglich sehr viel Bewegung und geistige Beschäftigung braucht.

Man darf die Fellpflege nicht unterschätzen – das dichte, drahtige Haar zieht Schmutz und Kletten magisch an und erfordert regelmäßiges Bürsten. Gesundheitlich ist er glücklicherweise extrem robust und zeigt kaum Anfälligkeiten. Wer einen unkomplizierten 'Mitläufer' sucht, wird mit dem starken Willen dieses Griffons jedoch nicht glücklich werden. Man muss seinen unabhängigen Kopf lieben und fordern können.
