Question 1

What is HonestDog?

Accepted Answer

HonestDog makes it easy and safe to connect with reputable dog breeders who can help you find your new best friend. Every breeder on HonestDog is verified before going live, following standards we developed with dog experts and veterinary input. We check identity against a photo ID, official documents such as the German §11 breeding permit or breed-club memberships, and photos of the breeding environment — AI-assisted, with anything inconclusive reviewed by our team. That way, every profile is backed by a real, document-verified breeder.

Question 2

What sets HonestDog apart from other platforms?

Accepted Answer

Animal welfare and a healthy, harmonious coexistence between humans and dogs should always come first. For this reason, we vet all breeders through a dynamic application process before activating a breeder profile. This minimizes the risk for dog enthusiasts of encountering irresponsible breeders.

Question 3

What criteria does HonestDog use to select breeders?

Accepted Answer

At HonestDog, we have strict criteria for approving breeders. Breeders upload all required documents, including identity proofs and, if applicable, proof of club membership. After verifying the documents, we conduct a personal interview with the breeders about their breeding philosophy and the socialization of the puppies.
