What matters most
Especially with a Chart Polski, choosing the right breeder is the single most important decision you'll make. Serious breeders consistently test the parents for inherited conditions, prioritize healthy early socialization, and stay accountable long after handover. A cheap puppy without health screening tends to become the most expensive dog later on.

The Chart Polski is a muscular, territorial sighthound—bred for persistent, tough hunting by sight across the vast Polish plains, which gives it a level of sharpness and alertness unusual for sighthounds.
Perfect for you if:
- You already have experience with large sighthounds or protective breeds—this breed brings a distinct guarding instinct alongside its pure hunting drive.
- You live in a rural area and have a high, securely fenced property that it is allowed to patrol.
- You can guarantee daily, controlled opportunities for sprinting in completely game-free areas or on a sighthound racetrack.
- You provide confident, calm leadership without harshness, as this dog will immediately question any inconsistency.
Less ideal if:
- You expect to be able to let it off-leash in the woods—as a lightning-fast sighthound, it will switch into hunting mode in a split second if a deer jumps up.
- You are looking for a dog for the local dog park, as it is often dominant toward strange dogs and has little interest in trivial play.
- You live in a busy environment where constant visitors would permanently trigger its innate guarding instinct.
The real vibes check
A Chart Polski is not a fragile couch potato that only wants to run—it is a robust hunter with the heart of a guardian. If you treat it like a simple companion dog, it will quickly start making its own decisions and managing its territory itself. However, if it receives clear leadership and breed-appropriate sprinting tasks, you will have an incorruptible, deeply loyal partner by your side.

Character & Temperament
Chart Polskis are independent and independent dogs. They are very loyal and alert to their family, but can be reserved around strangers. They are not aggressive but can be suspicious, making them good guard dogs. These dogs are intelligent and need meaningful activity to keep them from getting bored. Like most greyhounds, Chart Polskis are fast and persistent runners. They have a strong hunting instinct and should therefore be left off-leash in safe areas or have secure recall control. They tend to be calm and content indoors as long as they get enough exercise and mental stimulation. Chart Polskis have an independent streak and can make independent decisions. They are often not as people-oriented as other breeds, which means they can easily keep themselves busy and have no problem being alone for a few hours a day. However, it is important to get them used to being alone from puppyhood. Despite their independence, Chart Polskis are very loyal and affectionate dogs who form strong bonds with their family. They can get along very well with children as long as they are treated with respect. However, their size and energy can be overwhelming for smaller children, so careful monitoring is necessary. The Chart Polski has a strong prey drive and therefore should not be walked off-leash in an unsecured area unless he has very reliable recall control. This is especially true if there are small animals nearby, as he may want to hunt them. It is important to consider your hunting instinct and ensure that it can be exercised in a safe and controlled manner, e.g. B. through dog sports such as lure coursing or canicross. The Chart Polski is a breed that can be an excellent family dog with proper socialization and training. They need a patient, loving, but also consistent hand in order to grow into happy and balanced dogs. Their endurance and speed make them ideal for active families who like to spend a lot of time in nature. With the right training and environment, the Chart Polski can be a loyal and loving companion.

Training & Education
Training the Chart Polski requires patience and consistency. This breed is intelligent and independent, which can make them seem stubborn at times. Positive reinforcement and rewards usually work well. The Chart Polski has a strong hunting instinct and therefore needs a safe environment to run and play. Training in recall and impulse control is particularly important to prevent accidents. Frustration tolerance should also be a training focus, as dogs may have a tendency to become overly excited. Because of their active nature, they also need mental stimulation and can benefit from dog sports such as agility or obedience.
Nutrition & Care
The Chart Polski needs a balanced diet with high quality proteins and fats. Be careful not to allow the dog to become overweight, as this can put strain on the joints and lead to health problems. As with all dogs, Chart Polski should also be given sufficient fluid intake. When it comes to grooming, the Chart Polski is quite undemanding. The breed has a short coat with no undercoat that only requires occasional brushing. However, the dogs shed quite heavily, especially during the changing seasons in spring and autumn. When it comes to the German climate, the Chart Polski copes well, but should wear a coat in very cold weather as it lacks the insulating undercoat. Experiences with the Chart Polski
