Wir haben unseren Rüden vor drei Jahren über die Laufhunderettung adoptiert. Er stammt ursprünglich aus Frankreich und hatte dort wohl kein leichtes Leben. Die ersten Monate waren eine echte Herausforderung: Er war extrem misstrauisch gegenüber fremden Männern und weigerte sich strikt, auch nur in die Nähe einer belebten Straße oder einer Stadt zu gehen. Die Reizüberflutung war einfach zu viel für ihn.
Auch die Pflege erfordert viel Geduld. Wenn wir seine Schlappohren reinigen oder ihn bürsten wollen, geht er sofort in eine Abwehrhaltung und zeigt manchmal die Zähne, weil er früher wohl grob behandelt wurde. Da muss man sehr sensibel und ohne jeden Druck arbeiten.
Auf der anderen Seite ist er der anhänglichste Hund, den ich je erlebt habe. Wenn er einmal Vertrauen gefasst hat, ist er ein absoluter „Klette“ (ein echter pot de colle, wie die Franzosen sagen) und weicht mir nicht mehr von der Seite. Er sucht ständig den Körperkontakt und ist im Haus unglaublich sanftmütig.

Wir leben sehr ländlich mit einem großen Grundstück, was für diese Rasse auch absolut notwendig ist. Als Meutehund ist unsere Hündin extrem sozial. Sie versteht sich fabelhaft mit unseren Kindern und ist im Umgang mit anderen Hunden absolut unkompliziert. Aggressionen sind ihr völlig fremd.
Die Kehrseite der Medaille ist ihr ausgeprägter Jagdtrieb. Unsere Hauskatze mussten wir räumlich strikt trennen, da die Hündin sofort in den Jagdmodus schaltet – Kleintiere sind für sie reine Beute. Zudem bleibt sie überhaupt nicht gerne allein. Wenn wir sie zu lange sich selbst überlassen, langweilt sie sich schnell und fängt an, das Grundstück lautstark zu bewachen oder Dinge umzudekorieren.
Man darf nicht unterschätzen, wie viel Bewegung diese Hunde brauchen. Ein normaler Spaziergang reicht ihr nicht; sie muss rennen und ihren Kopf an der Schleppleine anstrengen können. Wer einen unkomplizierten Begleiter für die Mietwohnung sucht, ist hier definitiv an der falschen Adresse.
