History
The Griffon d'arret " poil dur Korthals is a fairly young breed whose history dates back to the 19th century. It was developed by Dutch breeder Eduard Karel Korthals, who wanted to breed the perfect all-round hunting dog. He began his breeding program in 1873, using seven carefully selected dogs that he used as the basis for his new breed. Korthals later moved to France, where he continued his breeding and improved the breed. He placed great value on health, intelligence, robustness and versatility. Within just 20 years he had established the breed and was recognized as Korthal's Griffon.
