History
Originally from Great Britain, the Manchester Terrier was bred in the 19th century to hunt rats and other pests. Its name comes from the city of Manchester in England, where it was particularly popular. The Toy Manchester Terrier was bred as a smaller version of the Standard Manchester Terrier and enjoyed great popularity as a lap dog for ladies of the Victorian era. However, despite its size, the Toy Manchester Terrier retained its typical terrier characteristics and was still an alert and active dog.
