Nutrition & Care

Be careful to avoid overfeeding, as Vizslas can be prone to overweight if they are not sufficiently exercised. The Vizsla's short, dense coat is easy to care for and only needs occasional brushing, about once a week, to remove loose hairs and keep the skin healthy. During the shedding season in spring and autumn, increased hair loss can occur, which is alleviated by regular brushing. The Magyar Vizsla is well adapted to the Central European climate. Its short coat does not provide special protection against cold, so appropriate protection should be ensured in cold temperatures. In summer, sufficient shade and water should be provided, as Vizslas can be sensitive to heat.
