Wir haben unseren Rüden im Alter von zweieinhalb Jahren aus dem Tierschutz übernommen. Vorher hatten wir durch diverse Forenberichte fast schon ein schlechtes Gewissen, weil wir keine Jäger sind, keinen Marathon laufen und auch nicht täglich kilometerweit mit dem Rad fahren. Doch die Realität zeigt, dass man ihn auch als aktive Familie glücklich machen kann, wenn man sich auf sein Wesen einlässt.
Er ist im Haus ein absoluter Traum, unglaublich verschmust, sensibel und anhänglich – eine echte 'Klette', die am liebsten überall dabei sein möchte. Draußen merken wir seinen Jagdtrieb allerdings sehr deutlich. Er läuft bei uns viel an der Schleppleine, weil er am liebsten jedem Vogel hinterherjagen und nach Mäusen buddeln will.
Man darf bei dieser Rasse auf keinen Fall mit Härte arbeiten. Vizslas sind extrem weich und feinfühlig; laute Töne vertragen sie überhaupt nicht. Mit viel Geduld, Apportierspielen, Kopfarbeit und einer liebevollen, aber konsequenten Erziehung ist er für uns auch ohne Jagdschein ein wunderbarer Begleiter geworden.

Ich führe meine Vizsla-Hündin jagdlich und schätze an ihr besonders, dass sie im Vergleich zu anderen Vorstehhunden extrem führerbezogen arbeitet. Man sagt nicht umsonst, dass andere Hunde für sich selbst jagen, der Vizsla dagegen für seinen Herrn. Bei der Schweißarbeit und dem Apportieren zeigt sie eine tolle Passion und eine hervorragende Nase.
Man muss aber auch ehrlich die Schwachstellen benennen: Im Vergleich zu robusteren Rassen wie dem Deutsch Drahthaar ist der kurzhaarige Vizsla im Wesen deutlich 'weicher'. Grobe Ausbildungsmethoden oder gar Zwingerhaltung sind für diese sensible Rasse absolut ungeeignet, da der Hund sonst seelisch zerbricht.
Zudem ist die Wildschärfe oft nicht ganz so stark ausgeprägt. Ein weiterer Punkt ist das kurze Fell ohne Unterwolle: Im Winter friert sie schnell, weshalb wir bei der Wasserarbeit im Spätherbst oder Winter temperaturbedingt klare Grenzen setzen müssen.

Unser Vizsla ist ein echtes Energiebündel und fordert uns täglich. Wir sind sehr sportlich und nehmen ihn zum Joggen und für die Dummyarbeit mit. Ohne diese körperliche und geistige Auslastung neigt er schnell dazu, extrem hibbelig, nervös und unterfordert zu werden. Man muss von Anfang an aktiv trainieren, dass der Hund auch mal zur Ruhe kommt, sonst zieht man sich einen hyperaktiven Hund heran, der permanent unter Strom steht.
Eine weitere rassetypische Herausforderung ist das Alleinbleiben. Er klammert unheimlich, bindet sich extrem eng an seine Bezugsperson und würde am liebsten den ganzen Tag physischen Kontakt halten. Das Alleinbleiben mussten wir in winzigen Schritten über Monate hinweg trainieren.
Wer einen unkomplizierten Hund sucht, der einfach so nebenherläuft, ist beim Vizsla definitiv an der falschen Adresse. Wer aber bereit ist, viel Zeit in eine konsequente, ruhige Führung und die richtige Balance aus Action und Ruhe zu investieren, bekommt einen unglaublich treuen Partner.
