History
The Cimarron Uruguayo originally comes from Uruguay, where it was traditionally used as a guard, herding and hunting dog. His name "Cimarron" means "wild" in Spanish or "untamed", which refers to the dogs that were left feral by the Spanish conquerors on the South American continent. These dogs mixed with the local dogs and formed the basis of the Cimarron Uruguayo breed. They were valued for their hardiness and adaptability, which allowed them to survive in the harsh conditions of Uruguay. The breed has been bred over the years to improve its working abilities while maintaining its unique temperament and appearance. The Cimarron Uruguayo was recognized by the F"d"ration Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in 2006.
