Wer sich einen Bucovina-Mischling ins Haus holt, sollte wissen, worauf er sich einlässt. Unser Rüde – ein Mix aus Sarplaninac, Bucovina und Osteuropäischem Schäferhund – hat uns vor allem in seiner Jugend einiges abverlangt. Nach der Pubertät hat er erst einmal alles infrage gestellt, was er zuvor gelernt hatte. Der Erziehungsaufwand war extrem hoch, denn diese Hunde haben absolut keinen 'Will-to-please' und treffen Entscheidungen im Zweifel lieber selbstständig.
Er war früher extrem territorial, sehr wachsam und Fremden gegenüber völlig verschlossen. Auch bei kleinen Kindern war er unsicher, was im Alltag viel Management und vorausschauendes Handeln erfordert hat. Ein ängstlich-aggressives Reaktionsmuster war bei ihm lange Zeit unterschwellig aktiv, weshalb wir lernen mussten, ihn extrem gut zu lesen.
Heute, mit fast 15 Jahren, ist unser Alltag zum Glück sehr ruhig und von festen Ritualen geprägt. Beschäftigung braucht er kaum noch. Typische Hundespiele wie Apportieren oder Ballspielen fand er übrigens schon immer völlig sinnlos. Für diese Hunde braucht man unbedingt ein ruhiges, ländliches Umfeld mit wenig Reizen – ein ständiges Kommen und Gehen von Besuchern im Haus funktioniert einfach nicht.

Mein Samu ist ein waschechter Ciobănesc Românesc de Bucovina und für mich ein absolut beeindruckender Kerl. Er ist im Haus unglaublich anhänglich, treu und verschmust. Aber man darf nicht vergessen, dass in dieser imposanten Brust das Herz eines echten Arbeiters schlägt. Samu scannt unentwegt seine Umgebung ab – besonders, wenn es dunkel wird, ist er extrem aufmerksam und sofort im Schutzmodus.
Diese Hunde sind dafür gemacht, eigenständig zu entscheiden und Herden gegen Wölfe oder Bären zu verteidigen. Das merkt man im Alltag an jeder Ecke. Er ist Fremden gegenüber von Natur aus extrem misstrauisch und warnt Eindringlinge mit einem sehr tiefen, lauten Bellen, das man meilenweit hört. Wenn er sich dann mit erhobener Rute präsentiert, macht jeder freiwillig einen großen Bogen.
Für eine Stadtwohnung oder für Anfänger ist diese Rasse absolut ungeeignet. Man braucht ein großes, sicher eingezäuntes Grundstück und vor allem eine sehr konsequente Führung. Wenn man selbst keine Sicherheit ausstrahlt, übernimmt der Bucovina sofort die Verantwortung – und das kann bei einem so großen, kraftvollen Hund schnell gefährlich werden.
