Questions about the quiz
What is extreme breeding?
Extreme breeding (“Qualzucht” in German) means breeding dogs in a way that puts their offspring at risk of inherited pain, suffering or harm – such as breathing trouble from an extremely short nose. In Germany, Section 11b of the Animal Welfare Act prohibits breeding where this can be expected.
Are the pictures of real dogs?
No. The illustrations are AI-generated and editorially reviewed. Each pair shows the same dog once without and once with the extreme trait, so the difference is easy to see. Health can never be judged from looks alone.
Is every dog of an affected breed ill?
No. The quiz shows traits, not verdicts on individual dogs or whole breeds. Only a vet can tell whether a particular dog is affected.
