White in the Shiba Inu

A white Shiba Inu features a solid light coat that ranges from nearly pure white to soft ivory tones. The plush double coat consists of harsh, straight outer hair over a dense, soft undercoat, with subtle cream or buff shading occasionally appearing along the ears or spine. Puppies are born pale, and slight warm undertones may become marginally more noticeable as they develop their adult coat. Within standard litters, this coloration occurs rather infrequently. According to the official FCI breed standard (No. 257), white is not an accepted show color, as the standard exclusively recognizes red, black and tan, and sesame varieties, all of which require the distinct urajiro pattern.
