About Dandie Dinmont Terrier
Entstanden aus unterschiedlichen Kreuzungen mit "Hounds" wurde dieser niederläufige Fuchs- und Otterjäger bereits im 18. Jahrhundert von umherziehenden Musikanten und Kesselflickern gehalten. Wegen seiner vorzüglichen Bauhundqualitäten fanden aber bald auch Bauern und Grundbesitzer Gefallen an ihm. Der Dandie, Philosoph unter den Terriern, ist ein Denker, der mehrmals zu überlegen scheint, bevor er agiert. Mit seinen dunklen, runden Augen sieht er sein Gegenüber an, als wolle er sagen: "Ich habe schon mehr vergessen, als Du jemals wissen wirst." Im Fach "Gehorsam" schneidet er eher schlecht ab, da er sich zunächst meist zu fragen scheint, ob es sich lohnt, zu gehorchen. Er ist jedoch anhänglich, sanft, anschmiegsam und ruhig. Trotz seiner Hellhörigkeit und Wachsamkeit bellt er selten grundlos.
