Acrochordonous plaques are benign, harmless skin growths affecting the dog's outer skin layer and underlying connective tissue. They typically form soft, raised bumps that are medically harmless and do not become cancerous. Any technical terms simply describe these non-cancerous skin tags.
Owners will usually notice painless, skin-colored or darkened bumps on the neck, chest, or armpits, particularly in older dogs. These growths generally do not cause any discomfort unless they are irritated by friction or licking.
Treatment is entirely optional and typically only required if a growth becomes irritated or for cosmetic preferences. A veterinarian can easily remove them in a simple, one-time procedure, which generally costs between 100 and 400 EUR.
