Vaginal prolapse · Uterine prolapse · Vaginalhyperplasie · Vaginalvorfall · Beckenorganvorfall · Uterusprolaps
This is a genetic predisposition where the connective tissues and muscles supporting the pelvic organs, such as the vagina or uterus, are abnormally weak. Because of this weakness, these organs can shift out of their normal positions and protrude outward, a process known as prolapse. This condition primarily affects the reproductive and urinary systems of female dogs.
Owners typically notice a visible, pink or red mass of tissue protruding from the vulva, which most commonly occurs in young female dogs during their heat cycle. Affected dogs may also lick the area constantly and show signs of pain or difficulty when urinating.
The condition is highly treatable, usually requiring a one-time surgical correction or spaying to resolve the issue permanently. Treatment costs generally range from 500 to 3000 EUR depending on the complexity of the surgery.
