Brown in the Poodle

The Brown Poodle features a solid, rich, and deep brown coat that is uniformly colored without unwanted reddish or grey tones. Its dense, curly or corded woolly coat possesses a subtle, healthy sheen. Characteristic of this color variety, the leather points—including the nose, eye rims, and lips—are pigmented in matching brown, accompanied by dark amber to dark eyes. Puppies are usually born with a deep chocolate brown coat, which often undergoes a natural clearing or slight lightening as the dog matures and is exposed to sunlight. Brown is one of the classic, foundational colors officially recognized under FCI Standard No. 172 across all four size varieties, and it is consistently represented in national breed registries.
