See puppiesIn the Poodle, the grey colour presents as a uniform, solid tone that must be deep and neither blackish nor whitish according to the breed definition. The dense, curly or corded coat carries a subtle, healthy sheen. Genetically, grey puppies are usually born black; the progressive clearing process begins in early puppyhood at the muzzle and paws and typically takes two to three years to fully stabilise into an even shade. Grey is an established and frequently seen variety in German litters. It is fully approved and classified as an official standard colour under FCI Standard No. 172.
Grey is a colour the FCI standard recognises in the Poodle.
Colour is not a mark of quality. A price premium for a ‘rare’ colour is a warning sign.
